Quality products deserve quality installation. As arguably the most important part of the process it is critical that the upmost care is taken during installation to ensure a finish that is both beautiful and functions perfectly. All of our installers are part of our approved installers scheme, meaning they comply with set standards of workmanship and housekeeping during their visit to you. Our installers will:
Contact you when they commence their journey to you on installation day
Carry ID for your peace of mind
Will protect the work area with sheeting prior to installation
Will leave your home clean and tidy at the end of each day of installation and on completion of works
Will ensure reveals and render are made good if any disturbance occurs as part of the installation
Stages of Installation
Clearing the installation area
We ask that you ensure clear access to the inside and outside of the windows to enable the installation to run safely and smoothly.
Preparation
Our installation team will protect the work area with sheets to ensure the area is kept clean and tidy.
Removing the old window
The sealed units are removed and the sashes unscrewed from the hinges. Old sealant is removed and the outer fram unscrewed and carefully removed from the reveal .
Fitting the new window
The reveal is prepared by removing old caulking and tidying up the reveal. The window is then installed (in reverse order to removal).
Final Checks and Adjustments
We will check to ensure the window is level & operating correctly. Any adjustments required will be made, and the window will be sealed in.
Finishing
Trim finish will be applied internally (See below for more information), the window and area cleaned and checked.
Arranging inspection
We will register the installation with the Local Authority who will arrange to inspect and certify that the installation meets building regulation and standards.
Registering your IBG
Once completed, we will register and issue your insurance backed guarantee, following which a certificate will be issued to you.
Installation FAQs
Internal trim, despite its name has an important function - to bridge the gap between the differing materials of the plaster line and window, and ensure that in the event of settling and movement of the property, your windows are still functioning to the correct standard. Whilst it might not be as attractive as a crisp, clean, plaster line, we do encourage all customers to have trim installed for this reason.
I have blinds installed - will these need removing before installation?
In order to be able to neatly remove and reinstall windows in your property, we need clear access to the window area, and would ask that blinds are removed prior to installation. If this is something you would struggle to do, please discuss this on survey or design consultation and we will do our best to assist.
How do I prepare for the installation?
You can find information about what to expect and advice on preparing for your installation here.
Will you require Access Equipment?
You can find more information about when Access Equipment might be required here
Will there be much mess?
Our installation teams will always do their absolute best to minimise disturbance and mess within your home, however please do expect some noise, dust and disruption whilst installation takes place. We will always leave your home clean and tidy at the end of each day.
I have rendering on the outside of my property - will this be damaged?
Rendering is usally applied up to, and over the edge of the window reveal, therefore removing the window without disturbing this is almost impossible. It is a little bit like trying to take the sponge out of the centre of a wedding cake without damaging the icing, therefore it is impossible to know what disturbance there will be. Patch rendering around the reveals is included in our quotes on rendered property, however if the rendering is in poor condition and we are concerned about more extensive issues, this would be discussed on a case by case basis.
