Why do we need access equipment?
In most homes, the vast majority of the installation process can be carried out from the inside of the property, however, to ensure that the windows are fully draught sealed, access to the outside of the window is required. In many cases, this can be done quite easily with the use of ladders, but there may be some instances where this is either not possible, or not safe. As a responsible business the care of your property, and the health and safety of our installers are paramount. To ensure both of these things, access equipment may be required.
Examples
Instances where ladders cannot be placed at a safe angle i.e. above a porch
Windows that are above a conservatory
Externally beaded windows where access with ladders is unsafe
Windows that present a trip or fall risk to the installer during installation
The pitch of the roof below is unsafe to board and walk on
Windows above the 1st floor
Do I have to pay for scaffolding?
Your Design Consultant will conduct an initial assessment of access requirements at their visit. To avoid any unexpected additional costs at survey, if they believe that access equipment will be required, then this will be discussed, and any additional costs factored into your quotation. Our Technical Surveyor will re-assess these requirements upon survey, and in the event of this not being the case, your final balance will be amended to remove the additional cost.
How long will the scaffolding be on my property?
We appreciate scaffolding can be an eyesore, and will therefore endeavour to ensure it is at your property for as little time as possible.
I have been told by other companies that scaffold is not required.
As a responsible business, the health and safety of our installers, and the care of your property is paramount. Whilst other companies may be willing to work differently, it is worth considering that in the event of incidents or damage occurring on your property as a result of unsafe working practices, you may be held jointly liable.
Can I provide my own working at height equipment?
As long as the equipment has been inspected and tagged as safe, and is suitable for our installation teams to use, we are happy for you to provide your own scaffolding.
